Psychologiquement instable et tout juste sortie de l'hôpital psychiatrique, Ingrid lit un jour un article sur Taylor, une «influenceuse» qui étale son bonheur sur les réseaux sociaux. Ingrid retire alors tout son argent et part s'installer à Los Angeles, pour être près d'elle. Et elle commence à faire exactement tout ce que Taylor poste sur internet. Un soir, elle enlève le chien de Taylor et lui rapporte ensuite comme si elle l'avait trouvé. Les deux femmes sympathisent et passent de plus en plus de temps ensemble. Mais Nicky, le frère de Taylor, se méfie d'Ingrid.
